Cisco has unveiled plans to react to moves by customers to unify their data centre and networking infrastructure taking advantage of hosted tools to increase efficiency by appointing Master Cloud Builders across Europe.
The vendor has been running a cloud builder specialisation for around a year and has recruited 46 resellers across Europe, with 7 in the UK, but now wants to take things up a notch with a Master tier for those resellers that can support the data centre, networking infrastructure, cloud and the various management tools to make things run smoothly.
Those resellers in the builder programme have been informed about the Master certification and are going through discussions with the vendor now to identify who will make the move, with the expectation that some of the first could be on board by the end of next month.
Ed Baker, director, partner organisation, Cisco EMEAR, said that customers were changing and they were looking for ways to exploit the cloud to remain competitive as well as looking for efficiency savings.
He said the demand was now for channel partners that could deliver a solution that covered all the needs of the users and for that reason the Master level has been created.
"There is a huge technological shift happening inside the customer and that is having an impact on processes," said Baker.
"Customers want to engage with partners at multiple levels and the reseller needs to be able to offer all of that data centre and networking services," he added.
Those qualifying for the Master specialisation will be expected to know about Cisco's networking, server technology and infrastructure offerings as well as the products of those other vendors in the ecosystem, including NetApp and EMC.
