Demand for cloud, mobility and desktop virtualisation products and services helped drive revenue at Citrix putting the BYOD champion in a position to talk about growth.

Although profits could not manage the same rate of growth as revenue, with net income for the first quarter coming in at $68m compared to $74m a year earlier, there were plenty of arrows pointing upwards elsewhere in the business.

Product and licenses revenue grew by 19%, SaaS turnover climbed by 21% and the money from professional services also saw an increase of 38% for the three months ended 31 March.

Mark Templeton, president and CEO of Citrix, said it had made a solid start to the year particularly around, "web collaboration, desktop virtualisation and cloud networking".

"We are expanding into fast growing, adjacent markets, all fueled by three powerful forces -  the need for mobility, the enterprise cloud evolution and the build-out of hosted cloud services," he added.
