Force10 Networks has moved to augment its UK distribution channel after signing an agreement with Avnet Technology Solutions to sell its high-performance datacentre networking kit in EMEA.
The two firms maintain a relationship in North America, and Force10 also sells into the UK market through Zycko.
However Force10 recently announced a major expansion of its Open Automation Framework - an open standards-based approach to network automation - and hopes to grow its reach and presence in Europe off the back of this.
Avnet claimed the new relationship would help resellers support the expansion of web 2.0 and portal sites, storage and server virtualisation, cloud services and automation through bulking up their core-to-edge Ethernet networking offerings.
"The agreement is an example of how Avnet, through its global scale and scope, is able to identify opportunities for growth and add value to its business partners by giving them access to new suppliers and areas of technology," said business strategy head Bruce Hockin.
Avnet and Force10 plan to provide the usual channel perks in terms of upfront investment in sales and technical training, demo units, marketing and sales support and so on.
