Computer 2000 is rebuilding its retail team ahead of a sales campaign to capture a greater share of wallet among the High Street chains and independent shopfront dealers.

Group marketing director Andy Dow has been parachuted in to lead the push, retail director Jim Barnes will oversee business development and Geoff Hart, former head of Samsung's consumer print divison has become retail account director.

Dow told MicroScope that C2000 was pursuing additional heads to "increase our presence in the retail market" and plans to develop programmes and online tools to underpin its efforts.

Only last week it emerged that Dow will become acting head of C2000's PC systems division while the business looks for a successor to Mark Glasspool, who takes on a European role at parent Tech Data from October.

The day-to-day running of the distributor's marketing activites will be managed by newly appointed marketing manager Sally Murdoch, who will report to Dow.
