Centrify looks for mobile specialists as identity market widens

Identity specialist Centrify is looking for more resellers as it aims for more growth across EMEA

Identity specialist Centrify is on the hunt for resellers with mobile skills as its market widens beyond an original starting point of the datacentre, driven by the increasing need by users for remote access.

The decade old firm has seen the demand for identity management move from a Unix and Linux environment to Windows. the cloud and now to mobile platforms as users gain access to data via different routes.

As a result the vendor is looking to seal more relationships with resellers and will use some of the $42m it gained in its recent round of funding to support its channel ambitions and has already doubled its EMEA team to support growth.

Darren Gross, EMEA director at Centrify, said that the market was expanding, driven by compliance and regulations that demanded firms could pin down identity and track user activity.

"We don't want to be over distributed so partners will be recruited in a controlled way," he added that particularly those with mobile and cloud skills would be the sort of partners that appealed.

"There is a desire from the customer to be secure and compliance and regulation demands are behind them as well," he added that the market represented an opportunity for resellers to talk to existing users about identity issues that extended beyond the datacentre.

He quoted IDC figures that signaled the market for identity controls and management could be worth $7bn by 2017 and it had enjoyed strong growth as a business in the last year.
