Every year the great and the good of the storage world meet at Storage Expo to show off their wares and inform resellers and customers about the general state of the market.

Along with the show floor there are seminars and workshops running that guide people through the issues that are setting the agenda.

Last year's hot topics were compliance and green IT, and already this year the signs are that those issues will be joined by advice and suggestions of how to guide customers through the credit crunch.

For those resellers attending the event the challenge is to use their time effectively. The following alphabetical guide offers highlights of a selection of vendors' product launches making the dealer's time at the event later this month all the more usefully spent.


The utility storage specialist will be showcasing its smart, thin and ready tiered-storage array for resilient utility computing, aimed at helping customers reduce the costs of allocated capacity, administration, and SAN infrastructure while increasing adaptability and resiliency.


Operating in the storage management software space, the vendor will be talking about backup and disaster recovery, two chestnuts that continue to be concerns for customers.


The company is exhibiting for the time at Storage Expo, using the event to display its low cost ‘white label' continuous data protection appliance with integrated off-site data replication service.

C2C Systems

C2C will be announcing a release of Archive One for Notes and Archive One for Microsoft SharePoint at the show. Both products are designed to help customers that are struggling with email management on Notes or Microsoft SharePoint.


Having recently appointed Bell Micro, the vendor will be supporting that channel activity with a showcase of ClusterMirror, its database mirroring appliance.

CMS Products

The show will be the venue for the launch of BounceBack Ultimate software, a recovery product for laptops, desktop PCs and small LAN servers. The product provides the ability to boot the PC directly from the Backup drive on a USB port and to create a bootable backup on a hardware encrypted drive.


There will be an opportunity for resellers to see how the combination of Equalogic technology is continuing as well as a chance to check the vendor's SAN, NAS and DAS products. Dell will be using these products to demonstrate its solutions for storage consolidation, storage expansion and backup, recovery and archive.

Disques & Silice - IDSBOX

The vendor will have its automatic local backup and remote data duplicator product that is aimed at the SME market.

Double-Take Software SAS

Double-Take Cargo will be on show, a storage optimisation product for use on file servers allowing system administrators to improve mirror performance. It works by making an identical copy of a file on a second server, to reduce disk space used on servers using the Double-Take core product.


FalconStor will be launching its latest storage virtualisation, CDP and VTL products into the UK.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers

FSC will showcase CentricStor FS, a file storage system that promises to be easy to use and price competitive.

Hitachi Data Systems

HDS is using the event to promote its latest product innovations.


The vendor has a number of executives over at the show including Greg Scorziello, IBM director of XIV Business, Europe and Mark Vargo, chief strategy officer for system storage. They will be discussing how to take advantage of the latest trends and make storage a utlity.


The entire portfolio will be there for resellers to investigate including the latest hardware: removable hard disk drives, external HDD and solid state drives.

Isilon Systems

Isilon recently made a product announcement that it expects will make waves in the market and is primed to talk to resellers about its plans at the show.

iStor Networks

The vendor will be announcing version 4.2 of its DR-Scout disaster recovery and business continuity software for small to large enterprises.


The latest version of the vendor's web-based unified email management service, which is fully integrated with Microsoft Outlook and offers email security, DLP, 10-year email archival and continuity of service, will be on show.


The vendor will be highlighting the importance of unified storage, as well as showcasing its Cougar 6000 series - datacentre class clustered NAS storage that delivers scalability and high performance whilst significantly lowering the total cost of managing unstructured data.

Overland Storage

The stand will be decked out with the focus on the ARCvault family of entry-level tape automation solutions that includes SCSI (SAS) connectivity and LTO-4 HH tape drives.

Plasmon Data

The vendor will showcase NetArchive, an archive solution that combines NetApp technology with Plasmon's UDO Archive Appliance and automated policy-management software to allow customers to provision data according to their requirements.

SANpulse Technologies

SANpulse will have its SANlogics software at the show, providing role-based architecture and views of heterogeneous SAN environments.


Scan-Optics will showcase its Forms Classification software that is built on the EMC Captiva document processing software suite. This is aimed at mailroom automation and bulk data capture applications.


TouchPoint for Laptops, an automated data backup solution, providing continuous data security backup and storage for laptops and handheld devices, will be the vendor's focus.

SteelEye Technology

Data replication is the theme of the SteelEye stand, with a product designed for Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 one of the key products.


The vendor, which has a foot in both the storage and security camps, will be talking about next generation data protection that includes virtualisation, storage management and archiving.

Vector and Scalar Products

Vector and Scalar Products will showcase its latest JetStor RAID Arrays that feature rugged energy-efficient and space-saving 2.5" disks in a design that reduces environmental and footprint considerations.

Westek Technology

The vendor is launching a compact 50TByte POWER iSCSI storage system that supports up to 50 enterprise class SAS or SATA II hot swap disks with ultimate RAID 6 data protection.
