Value-added reseller Trustmarque has widened its ability to provide hosted services to customers after acquiring cloud infrastructure specialist Nimbus Technology Systems.

The deal means the reseller now has access to the suite of Nimbus services, including online backup, security and hosted desktops, which will enable it to offer its customers the option of a traditional approach or fulfillment through the cloud.
Customer demand for cloud services was behind the buy, which had been considered for several months, before the decision to focus on Nimbus Technology was made.
"We wouldn't already be making the move if we weren't already talking to customers about cloud based technology," said Angelo Di Ventura, group sales & marketing director at Trustmarque.
He added that this was the first of some planned acquisitions as the reseller looked to widen the gulf between itself and rivals and provide a wider suite of services for customers.
"It massively accelerates the products we can take to customers and market them reliable and cloud based services and increase our technical expertise. It strengthens our brand equity in the mid-market, adds to our technical people and resources," he added.
The Nimbus Technology services will be run under the Trustmarque Enterprise Solutions Group (TESG)services arm.
Simon Rutt, who will be heading up the TESG division, said that it was fairly straightforward to overlap the additional services into its sales effort and it already had experience of providing some hosted applications to users.
"It is a strategic acquisition for us as we can now offer support across the board," he added.
