McAfee increases offering to channel MSPs

McAfee extends MSP programme to account for growing security-as-a-service demand

Security firm McAfee has expanded its managed service provider (MSP) programme to help partners in the channel meet the increasing market demand for security as a managed service without taking 100% of the risk.

According to InfoTech Research Group, managed and hosted service deployments are expected to increase by 35% within two years. IT organisations need to do more with less and are constantly having to balance what they do in house versus what is outsourced. Using an MSP allows IT organisations to focus on what they do best and to leverage the resources of security experts to expand or compliment their existing capabilities quickly and cost effectively.

For the first time, McAfee appliances will be offered to MSPs through a pay-as-you-go based model helping them deliver a much broader range of services on a shared risk basis.

The programme will now include access to McAfee Next Generation Firewall, McAfee Enterprise Security Manager, McAfee Network Security Platform and McAfee Advanced Threat Defense as well as expanding the portfolio of available software products to include its authentication solutions.

Gavin Struther, senior vice president of worldwide channels at McAfee said, "Security deployment models are shifting and the demand for Managed Services deployments amongst enterprises continue to expand for all types of security technologies. This demand is being driven by customer needs and corresponding channel partner expectations.”

“McAfee continues to evolve our MSP programme to address the security deployment trends to meet the needs of our customers and channel partners,” conrinued Struther.  “The introduction of these technologies to our MSP programme will allow our partners to expand their portfolio and differentiate themselves while generating additional revenue opportunities."

Matthew Gyde, group executive for security at Dimension Data said, "Our clients are facing complex threat environments and many lack the in-house resources or expertise to implement and manage a comprehensive security strategy”

"With McAfee's expanded managed service provider programme, we are able to offer our clients more choices and the option to remove the complexity associated to managing their own security solutions,” continued Gyde. “This allows organisations to free up valuable IT resources to enable strategic business enablement programmes."

“The expansion of the McAfee MSP programme continues to extend the value of McAfee's security connected strategy to our MSP’s who are now able to deliver the broadest range of Managed Security Services utilising a single vendor's technology and also leverage centralised management to greatly reduce the cost and complexity of managing their platforms,” concluded Gyde
