HP takes wraps off corporate app store platform

HP has announced that it will offer a corporate app store to users via resellers from next month

Hewlett-Packard has taken the wraps off a corporate app store designed to calm enterprise nerves about allowing users to bring their own devices to work and download applications.

The vendor has launched its HP Access Catalogue, which supports both Android and iOS apps, in response to a growing demand from business users for the need for secure access to corporate-backed applications.

Resellers will be able to offer the service from next month and pricing will be based on a per-user annual subscription. The Access Catalog is also being offered as part of the HP Anywhere enterprise mobility platform.

The pitch from HP is not only around improved security but the employee flexibility that can be gained from providing access to the right apps that can be used on various devices.

“As organizations embrace mobility, they need a simple, secure and reliable mechanism to manage the delivery of apps to their employees,” said Dragan Milanovich, vice president, Web Services, Software, HP.

“The HP Access Catalog provides enterprises with a robust, flexible and easy-to-use solution, making it easier for users to be productive on their device of choice," he added.
