Lenovo said that it plans to integrate its XClarity infrastructure management software with Nimble’s predictive analytics solution, InfoSight. The two companies hope that by combining forces, they will be able to provide the Holy Grail of next-gen infrastructure - what it calls 'self-healing' system management, working across the entire data centre, including storage, compute, and networking.
“This strategic relationship with Nimble enables us to deliver a state of the art all flash offering, further extending the industry’s best customer experience by leveraging the predictive analytics platform, InfoSight, all while providing a lower TCO,” said David Lincoln, executive director and general manager of Server, Storage and Solutions Business Unit, Data Centre Business Group, Lenovo. “Through this new alliance, we are able to deliver a continuous integration of hardware, software, and analytics support, establishing the means to develop the next generation all flash data centre and drive strategic value for our customers.”
Suresh Vasudevan, chief executive officer of Nimble Storage, added: “By combining our innovative technology with Lenovo’s global footprint and product scope we’ll provide a portfolio of high performance, application optimized solutions that minimize infrastructure management and lower overall support costs.”
Lenovo has been making a serious play on the datacentre and ThinkAgile has become the umbrella for its various offerings. The CX series will sit alongside Lenovo’s existing HX offerings, in partnership with Nutanix software, as well as its new OpenStack-based appliances, currently being rolled out in China.
The ThinkAgile CX Series solution will be available on October 28.
