Exertis brings Kevin Matthews on board to run enterprise sales

Just a couple of months after he exited Fujitsu Kevin Matthews has reemerged at Exertis

Exertis has brought on board industry veteran Kevin Matthews to take up a newly created role as enterprise director to drive sales on that side for the distributor.

Matthews has a CV that includes channel foles at HP and most recently at Fujitsu, where he oversaw a review of the firm's distribution partners and rolled out a fresh sales strategy.

That experience of the channel from a vendor perspective combined with Matthew's knowledge of the enterprise market, which he picked up at HP, puts him in a strong position to help Exertis increase the enterprise business.

The decision to create an enterprise director comes on the back of the distributor growing its vendor portfolio at that end of the market.

Phil Brown, Exertis sales and commercial director UK&I, said that the channel player had been investing in the enterprise business and this was further evidence of its commitment to that customer base.

"[Matthews] is the ideal candidate to own our enterprise solutions sales strategy and to maximise the investment in our enterprise business which has been further strengthened by acquisition and key vendor contracts,” said Brown.

Joining Exertis is not going to be a hige leap into the dark for Matthews, who is familiar with the firm thanks to his time at HP and Fujitsu.

“I am very much looking forward to the challenge at Exertis, a distributor I know well. The company has a passionate culture to succeed, an impressive management and sales team, and a portfolio of vendors with disruptive solutions that can enable resellers to differentiate themselves in the market, increase their margin and be more relevant to their customers. I want to ensure that our resellers fully understand and appreciate the breadth of products, solutions and services we can provide in the enterprise market,” he said.

Matthews joins a distributor that is expanding its reach and in the second half of last year alone added storage and server specialist Hammer in October and AV specialist Medium in November.
