CompTIA has rolled out a couple of fresh industry standards to support those in the channel looking to extend their operations into growth areas.
The channel organisation has previously identified security and managed print services as two of the areas where resellers could do with more support.
In response to that the firm has now launched the cyber security channel standard and one for those wanting to get gemmed up on managed print.
The cyber security standard covers what CompTIA describes as the five pillars: identity, protect, detect, respond and recover.
Managed print services will cover business generation, delivery and operations, customer relations and business direction.
"We believe in providing tools to advance the industry," said Kelly Ricker, senior Vice President, events and education at CompTIA.
"Adherence to these industry standards and best practices will help channel companies to optimise their standing as experts at a time when cyber security is a growing concern and priority for so many of their customers," he added.
On the printing front he added that many users were looking for guidance from the channel over how they could better manage print costs.
"Although many organisations are reducing their print volumes, printing remains a critical function in the business world and a potential business opportunity for solution providers," said Ricker.
Material to help resellers gain the standards is being made available for free of charge to registered users, premier members and non-members.
CompTIA started to ramp up the support it provided for the channel back in April as it started to expand the support it can provide the channel to try to increase knowledge around some of the key areas for growth.
The industry organisation has also recently changed its Trustmark accreditation programme to make it clear to customers where best practice exists in the channel.
Following up on that move CompTIA then added some education and training resources in the Spring that could be used by the channel to get up to speed on areas including managed services and cloud security.
