Ingram Micro brings on board more supply chain expertise

Ingram Micro is looking to get even more out of its European supply chain business after bringing on board an ecommerce fulfillment veteran

Distribution giant Ingram Micro has continued to make moves to underpin its operations across Europe by bringing on board a supply chain expert to fine tune its logistic efforts.

The channel player has appointed Markus Schmücker as executive director, Supply Chain Solutions, Europe, to oversee the development of its activities across the continent, which include providing the logistical support for vendors and retailers.

Schmucker, who joins Arvato with a wealth of European distribution experience will be instrumental in the standardization of capabilities and solutions available from Ingram’s fifteen primary Advanced Logistics Centers within Europe.

Schmücker, who said he is excited to be part of Ingram at a time when the Supply Chain business is rapidly growing, will ensure that Ingram’s partners are effectively leveraging the end-to-end supply chain capabilities offered by the division.

“As a result of Ingram’s footprint in Europe, customers can easily and quickly access new channels and markets driving downstream satisfaction,” commented Schmücker.  “This coupled with impressive IT capabilities and a suite of best-in-class solutions yields the optimal mix for customers focused on B2B, B2C, and ecommerce.”

In his time at Arvato Schmücker held a number of senior roles focusing on the European distribution of media, high-tech and IT products as well as ecommerce fulfillment, most recently as Managing Director, Supply Chain Solutions UK.
