Post inkjet exit Lexmark rolls out MFP strategy

Having taken the move at the end of the summer to exit the inkjet market Lexmark has rolled out a number of products to support its focus on the higher end of the market

Having made the decision to exit the inkjet side of the market Lexmark has put some muscle behind its strategy of putting more focus on laser multifunction devices.

The printer vendor took the wraps off what it has described as one of the most significant launches in its history with a raft of multifunction devices and laser printers aimed at providing the channel with the armoury to attack business customers.

Lexmark made the decision to exit the inkjet market at the end of August as part of moves to make savings of around £60m a year putting its emphasis not just on the higher end market but also on the software side of things following its acquisition of perceptive Software.

The vendor announced the launch of 11 multifunction devices yesterday including monochrome and colour laser-based products aimed at mid-seized workgroups and larger enterprise customers.

Marty Canning, Lexmark executive vice president and president of Imaging Solutions and Services, said that it was developing a range of products that not only delivered solid hardware options but took advantage of its software capabilities.

“Our innovative, smart MFPs are the backbone to the many workflow solutions we provide, and this close marriage between our hardware and software portfolios is what gives our customers access to unavailable information and improves customer satisfaction," he said.
