Becrypt appoints chairman amid expansion plans

Becrypt has unveiled a change of chairman as it reveals plans for further acquisitions to expand the reach of the business overseas

Becrypt has appointed Stephen Bellamy as its Chairman to replace Barney Quinn who has stepped down to focus on other projects.

Bellamy who joined the firm in 2009 hands over to Bellamy, who has over 25 years’ experience in managing and investing in various businesses. 

He is currently a non-executive director of Advanced Medical Solutions Group, a medical technology company and CEO of Accretion Capital LLP, a technology fund management business.

Bellamy has also held a number of executive roles in his career, including COO and finance director for Sherwood International. UK Investment Director of Brierley Investments and worked at Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) in New Zealand and New York.

 “We are delighted that Bellamy has agreed to become our Chairman. Becrypt has a long track record of developing innovative solutions that are certified for government, MOD and public sector use,” said a spokesman.

“As cyber crime continues to escalate we are now starting to see demand for similar solutions in the commercial sector, particularly in banking and financial services, pharmaceutical and utilities that tend to be more security conscious," he added.

The group intends to continue expansion into the US market, and into the more security conscious commercial sectors in the UK where Becrypt’s government approved heritage and experience is highly sought.

“I am very much looking forward to becoming more involved, as we continue to expand in the UK, Europe and the US and into new commercial market segments,” said Bellamy.
