Ingram Micro beefs up Dell support

Ingram Micro has invested in its relationship with Dell setting up a dedicated team to support the vendor

Six  months after it was appointed as a Dell partner Ingram Micro is putting more muscle into its efforts to support the vendor and has increased its commitment to the hardware giant.

Last September, Ingram was signed up after Michael Dell argued that it was still under distributed and since then the channel player has been busy getting staff accredited to support the vendor's storage and server lines.

The distributor's configuration unit has also been authorised by Dell to deliver configure to order solutions and from next month it will also be offering the vendor's financial services.

The result of the Ingram Micro efforts has been the launch of a dedicated Dell unit in the business which has involved more than 130 accreditations being picked up by staff.

Brent McCarty, managing director and vice president, Ingram Micro UK, said that it had worked on developing the technical knowledge in the Dell team to be in a better position to support resellers.

“We have developed new services and made investments to create a robust Dell solution. The breadth of technical expertise in our team takes our knowledge of Dell’s technology to a level that enables us to have deeper and wider conversations with our customers across the whole product portfolio," he said.

In response, Sarah Shields, executive director and general manager, Dell Channel UK, said that it had noted the investment made by Ingram and believed it would provide the channel with more sales opportunities.

“As part of Dell’s commitment to the channel, we offer all our partners flexibility and the chance to grow their business with Dell," she said.
