Toshiba takes cloud client manager out to the channel

Toshiba is taking its latest cloud based suite of management services out to the SME market and is looking for resellers to get behind the product

Toshiba is going to spend the last few weeks of the year banging the drum over its remote monitoring solution looking for more resellers to sign up to sell the service.

The vendor has recently launched a Cloud Client Manager service that comes with patch management, asset inventory and power management features but will get MDM and backup functionality added early next year.

The client manager service is being pitched as an ideal addition to the portfolio of resellers and MSPs keen to help customers keep on top of an ever growing mobile estate.

Jeff Willis, director of B2B Solutions at Toshiba Europe, said that the product was now available but it was still talking to the channel about it and wanted to get more on-board ready to sell it in 2015.

"We will be approaching the channel partners in the next few weeks and then hope to sign partners up to it," he added "We can help the channel with a service for an SMB and they can go the the market knowing they have a strong solution behind them."

Willis said that largely as a result of skills issues a lot of customers did not have a similar service in place and resellers would find that they would be providing an option that SMEs liked but had previously thought was too complicated to adopt.

He added that firms with up to 150 staff were often put off by some of the existing products in the market: "Previously barriers to entry included the cost of the product and deployment."

But with security concerns growing and the BYOD trend making it harder for firms of all sizes to keep a grip on data the chance to get a management suite that tracked assets and would shortly include MDM was one that Willis expected to be taken up by a significant number of customers.
