F-Secure has taken the wraps off a revised global partner programme in recognition that it needs to provide more support for managed service providers.
The security player has noted that not only are MSP numbers growing but also customers are also turning in greater numbers to use external partners because they do not have the skills in-house to keep fending off cyber threats.
“Managed service partners and value-added resellers have a great business opportunity in front of them to build a sustainable security service business,” said Pekka Usva, vice president of corporate security at F-Secure. “There is no better time to start selling security from the cloud, with the strong growth forecast ahead in managed services.”
The partner programme has been designed to make it easier for managed service providers to get access to cloud-based security offerings as well as providing support for its top tier platinum and gold partners.
Key to the direction that F-Secure is heading in is the firm's Protection Service for Business, which allows an MSP to handle desktop, tablet, smartphone, email and content security.
Earlier this year, the vendor launched a scaled up version of its consumer cloud-based service for small and medium enterprises as it attempts to address the security and management concerns that many SMEs have about hosted services as part of its moves to widen its hosted offering.
Several other security vendors have also made changes over the course of this year to make their partner programmes more attractive to MSPs in response to the changing channel landscape.
F-Secure will make the programme available to its global network of 3,500 partners but is also hoping that its move to embrace the cloud and make it easier for MSPs to sell its products will attract fresh blood and grow its reseller ranks.
