Six Degrees has appointed former PacketExchange COO Mike Ing to the newly-created role of group business operations director with a brief to oversee the integration of its recent acquisitions, among other things.

The buy-and-build cloud services provider has had a busy six months in terms of acquisitions, buying managed hosting providers Ultraspeed, Firstserv and Serverstream, and datacentre connection specialist Datahop.
Ing, who has been working with the firm for some time on a consultative basis, spent six years at PacketExchange, prior to which he ran European ops at comms services provider Level3. He began has career at Cable&Wireless.

Ing will also take charge of general business process management and internal systems and IT, as well as running Six Degrees' managed cloud hosting unit.
