The software vendor has cast its eye over the way all companies, both public and private, waste billions on administration costs that could be trimmed with technology.
The vendor's UK Admin Burden Report, which was carried out by YouGov, has some interesting findings with the main one being that 30% of users spend at least five hours every month on unnecessary administration work.
Once those wasted hours are extrapolated across the economy a total of £8.8bn is the figure that British companies could save working smarter.
David Gingell, Adobe's senior director of marketing, said that technology could help reduce that amount of wasted time, saying: "The whole country has been trying to save money and you can cut costs but how can you cut waste time and how big an issue is this to UK business have been the questions." He added the vendor had now answered those.
But as well as using technology any reseller talking to a customer about cutting waste would have to recognise the cultural issues within user organisations, Gingell said.
"Internal politics means you can have information that one department doesn't want to share with anyone else," he said.
