Computacenter (CC) has coughed up £500,000 to acquire a minority stake in Microsoft SharePoint configuration services provider ICS Solutions.
The Basingstoke-based Microsoft Gold Partner sells a mixture of on-premise and software-as-a-service including the Windows Azure Platform, Lync Online, and Exchange Online.
In a statement to the City, CC confirmed its UK subsidiary "has acquired a minority stake in ICS Solutions Ltd for a cash consideration amounting to £500,000".
"This acquisition will allow Computacenter to pursue wider opportunities in the deployment of its Microsoft Collaboration service and solution offering," it added.
Founded in 1994, ICS employs 35 people and in its last financial year to 30 June 2010, its turnover nearly £5m and made an operating loss of £74,000.
Anthony Miller, managing director at industry analyst TechMarketView, said CC already backed off some SharePoint service work to ICS and acquired a "blocking stake" in the business made sense.
"For a modest amount of dosh, Computacenter has secured a set of skills that it does not have in-house or could be difficult or costly to grow [organically]," he told MicroScope.
London-based services based reseller CC also completed the £17.6m acquisition of French reseller Top Info, a deal which was first revealed in February.
