Micro-P’s Brown to strengthen VAR clout in new role

Commercial director Phil Brown handed B2B director role in bid to get partners “fighting fit” for the future

Micro-P is to redeploy commercial director Phil Brown as its new B2B director, with a brief to drive forward the distributor’s B2B customer, vendor and sales proposition.

Brown joined Micro-P early in 2011 after a short stint as general manager of Asus’s notebook division.

His new role will be centred on addressing and meeting the needs of Micro-P’s core IT and specialist resellers, as well as ensuring that the firm’s channel strategy is consistently executed and developed to capitalise on new customer opportunities.

Brown said, “In this new challenge, I will ensure that Micro-P’s reseller partners are fighting fit for the future.

“Micro-P has always been led by the principles of strong customer relationships and I will continue to ensure that we exceed our customers’ needs to drive our combined growth and success.”

Market making appointment for tablet vendor Wacom

Separately, Micro-P has also announced it is to extend the range of tablets it offers through the channel after signing up to distribute hardware from premium tablet PC and stylus manufacturer Wacom.

Well known in the wider world for a range of drawing tablets beloved of graphic designers, web cartoonists and other artists, Wacom also has a strong presence in the business and education sectors, selling digital document management solutions and other digital interface hardware and software lines.

The Japan-headquartered firm has tasked Micro-P with broadening its reach into the UK through VARs, and expanding its customer base by creating new market demand and revenue streams.

It said it had picked the DCC-owned distie thanks to its track record of successfully accomplishing this for a number of other vendors.
