TalkTalk Business buys comms reseller Greystone

TalkTalk Business has picked up Cheshire-based business comms reseller and partner Greystone Telecom for an undisclosed sum.

TalkTalk Business has picked up Cheshire-based business comms reseller and partner Greystone Telecom for an undisclosed sum.

The family-owned company, which provides comms and network services to both customers and a small number of agents and consultancies operating within its own partner programme, has been working with TalkTalk Business and its predecessors for 11 years.

Outgoing owners Max and Judy Morrison said: "When we knew the time was right to exit the natural option was TalkTalk. Their support and commitment has been unsurpassed."

TalkTalk Business managing director Paul Lawton said the deal demonstrated the firm's commitment to its partners.

"When it was the right time for the owners to exit, we were able to quickly agree a deal, provide a good home for their customer base and continue to offer support to Greystone's channel partners," he said.

"Our strategy is that we will help businesses start up and grow, and so it makes sense for us to manage customers directly if the owners want to exit," he told MicroScope.

"Unlike others who try to tier the channel or make them buy through distribution, we'll engage with them throughout their lifecycle," Lawton continued. "We put a premium on businesses we know well and it makes people more inclined to deal with us."

The firm said that it had plans to add services from Greystone's portfolio to beef up its inbound call and contact centre offerings, and was keen to engage with its customer base, which includes names such as retailers Mothercare and Wilkinsons.

The deal marks the second acquisition TalkTalk Business has made so far this year, following its purchase of Tyneside-based Executel back in April.
