It's been a busy week in the channel with senior appointments happening across all tiers as firms bring on some fresh talent to get the growth they are looking for.
With the acquisition of Avnet Technology Services done and dusted the destination of some of Avnet's senior management has been revealed. Miriam Murphy takes on the role of senior vice president and regional managing director Benelux and Graeme Watt, gets the task of becoming senior vice president, Value (includes the combined businesses of Azlan and Technology Solutions, specialist brands Datech and Maverick, along with Tech Data Cloud and Tech Data Smart for IoT). Other headline changes include Patrick Zammit being named the President of Tech Data Europe with Andy Gass, keeping his post of senior vice president and regional manager for the UK and Ireland, reporting into him.
The channel player has hired Kelvin Lee, who was the former technology category director for the Crown Commercial Service, to handle the firm's £360m procurement budget. Lee Hemani, managing director at XMA, said that Lee came with plenty of experience that he could bring to the table. "Kelvin’s Private/Public sector background provides the ideal foundation for XMA and will optimise commercial procurement initiatives, keeping the business growth trajectory on course across 2017 and beyond. Our strategy for future success is a blend of cultivating exceptional young talent and attracting industry heavy weights like Kelvin, something we will continue to develop," he said.
Former UK channel manager Nathan Addison has returned to the organisation as cloud business development manager. Lisa Winstanley has also joined as marketing manager. “We have big plans for 2017 and our focus will be very much on driving higher levels of customer service and engagement. We want to get even closer to our members and make sure that they are getting everything they can out of Synaxon," said Derek Jones, managing director of Synaxon UK. “This is the right time to be investing in and strengthening our team."
The document lifecycle management consultancy has strengthened its management team by bringing on Antony Wells as senior account manager. he will be working with existing customers as well as looking to expand the firm's footprint in EMEA. The application security specialist has ushered in industry veteran Derek James as regional director for UK & Ireland. He has been in the industry for three decades with plenty of experience working with partners. “The UK and Ireland represent a huge market opportunity for application security,” said James. “I am looking forward to forging even stronger relationships with our existing customer and partner ecosystem, and to bringing our market-leading web application security solution to new customers in the region.”
The content delivery network services specialist has brought on board Justine Harris as regional vice president, channel and alliances to drive growth in Europe. Her CV includes time at BMC Software and Novell. “I’m thrilled to be joining an established and talented team to help strengthen Akamai’s channel ecosystem”, said Harris. “I look forward to working closely with all our partners across EMEA and enabling them to deliver greater value to their customers."
