Distribution player Nuvias Group has added unified comms expertise to its portfolio with the acquisition of Siphon Networks.
The deal will involve Nuvias making a significant investment in Siphon and helping the firm expand across Europe.
Paul Ecclestone, CEO of the Nuvias Group, said that it had been in discussions with Siphon since the start of the year and it made sense to acquire the firm and add it to the group.
He said that the unified comms expertise would sit well alongside the networking specialism of Zycko and the security knowledge that was brought to bear by Wick Hill.
"This makes the unified comms business for us really strong and we have the skills to be able to push UC across EMEA," he said.
Steve Harris, managing director of Siphon, said that it had a small office serving the Benelux region but becoming part of Nuvias would give it a chance to sell across Europe.
"We have built a successful business in the UK and in Benelux and the fit with Nuvias gives us a strong European presence and more chances of success," he added.
Harris said that it had grown the unified and cloud comms business at a time when the customer interest in the technology was expanding creating a channel opportunity.
Under the terms of the deal Siphon will continue to be run by Harris and the current team will remain in place.
The firm has strong relationships with Broadcom, Oracle and Polycom and has a strong team of engineers in place to support the channel.
"The suppliers have been quite positive about working with us to expand [sales across Europe]," said Harris.
Nuvias is moving pretty quickly to back up its ambitions outlined in July to grow its European business.
Rigby Private Equity set up a holding company the Nuvias Group, which started as a home to combine the investments it had already made with Wick Hill and Zycko, earlier this summer.
