At the start of the year Cloud Distribution set out an ambition to grow its portfolio and to continue to attract vendors around the main areas it focused on - security, networking and storage - and went quietly about its business meeting that aim.
Things could have become problematic because some of the vendors it carried were either acquired by larger players or were linked with potential deals, but none so far have changed their distribution strategy.
That has enabled the channel player to continue to develop a portfolio approach that is designed to bring to the attention of resellers some of the emerging players that can pose a challenge to established market leaders.
In a bid to attract them not only has the distributor kept it focus quite tight but has also invested heavily in developing marketing resources that can cut down the time it takes for a vendor’s message to get out there in front of customers via the partner.
The latest to join the vendor roster list is Netskope, which operates in the ever expanding cloud space providing IT administrators with the chance to get a view of which applications are being used across the enterprise and which are being brought in as a result of BYOD.
Adam Davison, product and marketing director at Cloud Distribution, said that it had been tasked with reaching out to cloud consultants, resellers with mobile expertise and security VARs to help drive the market forward for the vendor.
“Shadow IT is one of the biggest challenges for customers as more people start to use apps that they want to on their devices without telling the IT people,” he said.
He added that not only was there a security risk posed by data being shared across different cloud platforms but there was also an associated cost in charges for some of the services that users needed to be aware of.
Netskope started to operate in the UK in earnest last year and opened an office as well as making the move to appoint Exclusive Distribution as it started to look for channel growth.
“Enterprises are becoming increasingly aware of the need for safe cloud app usage and market demand for our solutions only continues to grow,” said Jonathan Mepsted, managing director, Netskope UK. “Cloud Distribution complements our ambition to further expand and enhance our market presence in the UK.”
