Micro-P ups its renewable energy technology portfolio

Micro-P teams up with renewable energy specialist Zigor to help resellers offer their customers more options around green technology

Renewable energy specialist Zigor has appointed Micro-P as its first UK distributor for its solar inverters. The move reflects a burgeoning market in renewable energies with growing interest in both industrial and domestic markets.

It also signals a broadening product portfolio for Micro-P which has traditionally focused on IT products such as servers, networking components and consumer electronics. That said, Micro-P began stocking Zigor’s uninterruptible power supply solutions in 2010.

Micro-P will be distributing Zigor’s Single Phase On-Grid Sunzet inverters from 2kw up to 5kw for small or domestic solutions and the larger On-Grid Three Phase Sunzet inverters for industrial applications rated from 10kw up to 3 or 4mw.

The On-Grid inverters are designed for use with mains connected solar generation plants when a mains supply is available or as a supplementary power source. Any excess power that is generated can be fed back into the National Grid with users receiving a payment per kilowatt.

Micro-P believes it can make a success of the products by riding the current wave of rising energy costs and the government targeting the running, capital and disposal costs of equipment used in the public sector and industry.

Rod Slater, networking business manager, Micro-P said increasing numbers of organisations are looking to improve their return on existing capital. By taking advantage of solar power the On-Grid inverters help organisations offset CO2 and ensure the highest possible efficiencies.

Gavin Banks, UK sales manager for Zigor, acknowledges that the market for renewable energy installations is challenging but claims that the features of its Sunzet inverters offer a competitive edge. He says the rich technical features and user friendly graphical monitoring, combined with a competitive price offer something different while still delivering profit margins.

In a bid to drive sales, Micro-P is encouraging partners to get involved in its ‘expertise’ programme which provides partners without qualifications and skills for solar inverter installations to leverage existing relationships with customers and turn them into sales opportunities.
