Vodafone accelerates integration of CWW

Vodafone has announced plans to bring forward some of its efforts to integrate Cable & Wireless Worldwide making changes that kick in from the start of next year

Vodafone is setting up a group enterprise unit, which will have a presence in the UK, from the start of next year to accelerate the integration of Cable & Wireless Worldwide.

The unit will be headed by the current chief executive of Cable & Wireless Worldwide Nick Jeffery who is becoming group enterprise director reporting into Vittorio Colao, group CEO.

The unit will have four vertical teams: Vodafone Global Enterprise, Carrier Services, machine-to-machine solutions and hosting and cloud services. They will be supported by their own dedicated channel and sales operations.

From 1 January efforts will be made to merge CWW's UK-based enterprise business with Vodafone's UK enterprise operation and the customer service and HR and legal activity.

"Following our acquisition of CWW in July 2012, it has become clear that there is strong customer demand for combined products and services. To realise this growth opportunity, we have decided to accelerate the CWW integration process ahead of our original schedule," stated the firm.

Struggling CWW was plucked from the brink of disaster by Vodafone earlier this year for £1.04bn and has since been delisted from the London Stock Exchange.
