TalkTalk, owners of the Opal b-2-b comms brand, has today announced the formation of a new MVNO agreement with Vodafone to offer customers mobile voice and broadband services alongside their landline and home Internet plans.

Speaking as he unveiled the firm's first quarterly interim management statement since its split from the Carphone Warehouse, TalkTalk chairman Charles Dunstone said that customers had been asking for mobile services plans.
"They expect the same value from their mobile services that they've come to expect from their home phone and broadband, so that's what we intend to provide. We've chosen Vodafone as our netowkr partner as they have a proven network and a track record of success with their MVNOs," he said.
Vodafone has a pre-existing MVNO agreement with the Carphone Warehouse, and also provides mobile network services for supermarket chain Asda and ethnic operator Lebara, among others, in the UK.
Meanwhile, TalkTalk's first quarter results held up well, as the firm maintained its momentum in the broadband market.
Excluding Tiscali, total sales were up 31% year-on-year to £444m. It added 34,000 net new broadband customers during the quarter, and reported that 77% of its customer base was now unbundled, up 3% sequentially.
Opal, meanwhile, brought in £87m, up 14%, with data revenues and growth in Ethernet services contracts offsetting the ongoing decline in voice. The unit reported an expanding pipeline of new data opportunities for Q2.
