CA continues to expand its cloud portfolio after snapping up privately held 3Tera which specialises in developing hosted services.
The acquisition marks the fourth recent purchase CA has made to bolster its cloud position with Cassat, NetQoS and Oblicore already having been picked up and underlines the commitment the CEO made to continue to expand its portfolio.
In statements made last month that accompanied the vendor's Q3 results CEO William McCraken said it would continue to beef up its cloud technology.
In an undisclosed deal CA will get the fruits of 3Tera's Applogic product which allows users to add applications to a shared cloud infrastructure.
Barry X Lynn, CEO of 3Tera, said that the benefit of becoming part of CA was the ability to reach a much larger customer base.
"CIOs can use cloud computing to build and manage a new type of IT 'supply chain' across today's virtualised internal and external technology infrastructure," said Chris O'Malley, executive vice president of CA's Cloud Products & Solutions Business Line.
He added that 3Tera would add to "the total solution" that CA was creating around supply chains from the mainframe into the cloud.
