Oracle is to add yet another software company to its growing list of acquisitions building on the growing list of companies it has picked up in the last five years.

Oracle, currently awaiting regulator approval of a $7.4bn deal for Sun Microsystems, plans to buy GoldenGate Software but neither company has disclosed the financial terms of the transaction.

GoldenGate’s products include software that analyses large databases and helps banks detect fraudulent activities.

The San Francisco-based firm has more than 500 customers, including Bank of America, Comcast, MGM Mirage and Visa.
