Dimension Data fresh UK sales boss looks for digital growth

Dimension Data's new UK&I sales boss is looking for growth helping customers with digital transformation strategies

Dimension Data is hoping that the decision to bring on board an industry veteran with experience with large vendors will support its growth ambitions.

The channel player has appointed Andy Ritchie and UK & Ireland sales director. His CV includes time recently as head of global sales for BT at Cisco. As well as a spell at the networking giant he has also been at BT Global Services and T-Systems.

He joins a firm with a turnover of $7.5bn and offices in 58 countries that is still looking for more growth opportunities.

"Our UK&I business has seen strong sales performance and consecutive growth in recent quarters. Andy brings global and local sales experience to his new senior role at Dimension Data and we look forward to accelerated services-led sales growth under his leadership," said Barney Taylor, managing director of Dimension Data UK&I.

Ritchie said that where he felt there could be some room for growth was around helping customers with their digital transformation strategies.

“Dimension Data is exceptional at delivering transformational IT services. It has a unique combination of global service provider and service integrator capability, backed by a highly experienced professional services team based here in the UK&I. As our clients look to transform and innovate more rapidly, we’re ideally positioned to help them achieve that," he said.

Research that was shared by Ricoh Europe yesterday revealed that most customers were expecting this to be a year of disruption but a period that would give them a chance to become more competitive.

A Gartner CIO survey also found that 18% of budgets were already going towards digitalisation and it would hit 28% by next year.

“We are seeing a pace of change that we have never seen before. Customers expect more from partners and vendors and we need to understand how we offer broader services that meet the needs of the market. Furthermore, data is now the only asset of lasting value for many companies," said Matt Watts, director, technology and strategy EMEA at NetApp.
