SAP continues to push more of its functionality towards the cloud with its Business Suite now being made available via a subscription payment model as it looks to compete with rivals.
Using the HANA Enterprise Cloud platform the Business Suite will provide SAP with the chance to boast of having a the sort of functionality that some of its competition has in a hosted environment.
The vendor is offering the HANA platform on the back of its own data centre network, which it is expanding to add to the 16 centres it already operates worldwide, looking to encourage more of its customers to migrate to the cloud.
The move to put more of its applications into the cloud provides those customers that have used SuccessFactors and Ariba products the chance to opt for a hosted environment.
Dr. Vishal Sikka, member of the executive board of SAP AG, products & innovation, said that the move was a "significant step forward for SAP's transformation" and it was delivering choice on its HANA platform.
“In addition, we are expanding our global presence with a comprehensive in memory-centric data center plan, dramatically simplifying our customers’ IT landscapes," he added.
