Canopy will sell a range of products and services aiming to be a one-stop-shop for customers looking for hosted applications and support but Atos is also supporting efforts by EMC and VMware to establish an open cloud platform.
The move has been made in response to the growing interest in cloud from customers and Canopy is aiming its services squarely at the enterprise market.
"Today's enterprises and governments face in parallel massive pressures on IT costs, growing user expectations for agility, user-friendliness, and innovation. Cloud Computing is radically changing the world of IT by meeting these needs," said Thierry Breton, chairman and CEO at Atos.
Commenting on the strategic alliance with EMC and VMware Breton said it would provide the backbone of services that Canopy can offer.
Joe Tucci, chairman and CEO at EMC said:that the plan with Atos was to target enterprises and key industries that were opening up to the cloud.
"Cloud computing is altering forever the way in which IT is designed and consumed across data centers, applications and end user access points," he said.
