Two months after it acquired Scotland-based Canon dealer Concept Group, Xerox has forked out an undisclosed sum to buy Middlesex-based NewField IT.

NewField IT is a hybrid reseller and software developer that specialises in print consultancy and services based around its Asset DB software suite to help customers implement managed print solutions (MPS).
Xerox is keen to enhance its MPS business in the SME sector and plans to use NewField's software expertise as a means to speed up return on investment for MPS customers, according to Xerox president of Global Document Outsourcing, Stephen Cronin.
NewField co-founders Robert Newry and James Duckenfield will continue to lead the company, which Xerox has pledged to keep as an independent unit, with all employees transferring across.
Like Concept, which remains a Canon partner, Newry stressed that NewField's approach to its client base would not change.
"We'll remain an integral part of MPS offerings provided through a number of vendors in the field and we will continue to preserve our impartibility in serving the market," he said.
Quocirca principal analyst Louella Fernandes said that successful MPS strategies in the SMB market were "highly reliant on resellers' resources and skills to sell and deliver MPS quickly and effectively".
She added: "The NewField acquisition will enhance Xerox's credentials to deliver a comprehensive set of MPS tools for multivendor resellers far beyond the basic MPS packages on offer from its competitors."
