The idea of keeping resellers in the loop when sales are handled via the web is one that has foxed many a software vendor but AVG appears to have come up with a solution for its partners.
The security vendor rolled out an online revenue share model a couple of weeks ago that would ensure that any additional web purchasing of products from a user would trigger a 20% margin reward for the reseller that originally sold them their first product.
Chris McManus, AVG vice president of sales in the UK and Ireland, said that the scheme had already reaped rewards for those resellers that had benefited as customers upgraded to the Family Safety and LiveKive packages.
"It might not be that exciting for a reseller to sell a low cost add-on to a license but they now get the revenue and the feedback has been very positive," he said.
McManus added that it expects the smaller partners and shop-front dealers to do particularly well out of the online revenue share model and would be extending it to other additional products as they became available.
AVG has been bolstering its channel efforts in the last few months and McManus said that the results of greater interaction with partners was already being seen in larger order sizes as the channel increased sales in the SME sector.
