Digital transformation discussion set to dominate Cloud Expo

Excel should be the venue for plenty of customers asking about business transformation over the next couple of days

The stands are being assembled and the brochures readied to be handed out to those delegates looking to gain information about the latest products and services but even before Excel opens its doors to Cloud Expo it is fairly easy to predict the main discussion points.

Those two magic words ‘digital transformation’ should dominate the conversations that customers have with vendors, resellers and those distributors that have a presence at the event.

There is no doubting that cloud is driving changes in business a more users look to lean on the computing muscle on offer and extend the reach of digital processes to more parts of their operation.

Recent research from the Cloud Industry Forum revealed that the next couple of years are going to be pivotal in the roll out of digital transformation projects and there will be numerous opportunities for resellers that have cloud competencies.

The next couple of days should see more discussion as users at various stages of their journey look for advice but Cloud Expo will also provide those in the channel looking to get a clearer picture on the current landscape with a chance to do so.

One of those that is undertaking some research is Ingram Micro, which is keen to hear from existing and potential channel partners, about just what is happening out there in the market.

Apay Obang-Oyway, director of Ingram Micro Cloud Northern Europe, said that digital transformation was a growth market and those with cloud skills would very much be in demand.

“Cloud services, which effectively offer unlimited and dynamic compute resources, form the foundation of Digital Transformation and can facilitate rapid business change no matter what the size of organisation. Cloud Expo Europe is therefore the ideal event for us to speak to potential and existing channel partners looking to diversify and target the end user as they in turn plan and roll out digital transformation strategies,” he said.

Last week, Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO used his keynote at the vendor’s Envision conference to talk about digital transformation and to encourage customers to get spending more in this area.

“It is clear that technology is playing an increasing role in everything that we do,” he said “Technology can truly shape growth and how we can use technology to change and stint the landscape of the industries we participate in.”

Other channel highlights at Cloud Expo will include Veeam, which is fresh from announcing an expansion to its EMEA ProPartner programme, with its enterprise specialisation and redesigned portal.
