Five Minute Interview: Clare Loveridge, Nimble Storage

Nimble Storage EMEA channel director Clare Loveridge shares her view on how partners can become more competitive, and reveals her ambitious baking plans in this week's Five Minute Interview

Tell us what you do for a living.

I'm EMEA channel director for Nimble Storage.

What gets you up in the morning?

Being part of a small but very enthusiastic team who want to make a difference.

Who helped you get to where you are today?

My dad drove me to be independent, and work hard to reach a goal, and my mum taught me to care.

What is the best or worst business advice you have received and from whom?

Treat people the way you would like to be treated.

What advice would you give to someone starting out today in IT?

Think whether you want to be part of a small start-up or a large enterprise, and what role you would like to play within that organisation as they are two completely different animals.

What’s running on your smartphone?

Work, shopping and weather apps, nothing particularly exciting.

What does the next five years hold for the channel?

A lot of resellers are going to find it very difficult to continue as they are in the current climate; predominantly based on margins due to competition. Resellers have gone from being loyal to one vendor, to offering a wider portfolio of solutions. I believe they will revert back to being more single vendor focused.

Tell us something most people do not know about you.

I recently completed my PPL (Private Pilot’s Licence).

What goal do you have to achieve before you die, and why?

Make the perfect sponge cake!

What temptation can you not resist?

Chips and gravy.

What was your first car and how does it compare with what you drive now?

Well I had a 10th hand car, with a different colour door, it was a Nissan Bluebird I think, but not all blue obviously!

If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be and why?

A cat because they can do absolutely nothing for a day, and not feel guilty about it.

If you could take part in one event in the Olympics, which would you choose and why?

Probably the pole vault, because I have always wondered how you transport the poles around the world.
