Trustmarque's intention to create "mini regional frameworks" for NHS Trusts shows the requisite creativity as the public sector focused reseller holds its breath for further details of the austerity measures.

Around 80% of the Microsoft LAR's turnover comes from the public sector and the coalition's decision to axe Microsoft and Novell Enterprise Wide Agreements will hit Trustmarque hard - it was the incumbent partner on each of the deals.

Cynics would say that the efforts to collate NHS Trusts to harness their buying power to attain better discounts is an attempt to gloss over the two significant contract losses, worth an estimated £17m.

Others may say that innovative thinking is exactly what will be required to make cost conscious public sector departments think they have an IT ally that is trying to be cognisant of the business and technology issues they are facing

The government will publish its comprehensive spending review on 20 October to detail exactly where it plans to make swingeing cuts. The tech sector awaits this with anticipation.
