Ever fancied being a mentor?

No - we're not talking about mentoring hopefuls (and the hopeless) on X Factor. Instead, the question relates to a Government plan, put forward by Business Secretary Vince Cable, who wants to create a network of business mentors to help new and growing businesses.

From next summer, it is planned that there will be a single online gateway to mentoring for those offering and those seeking support. It will be backed by the British Bankers' Association. In the meantime, approaches can be made via a local Business Link.

The new mentoring network is all part of a series of announcements from the Government as their contribution to Global Enterprise Week.

'Global' needs some clarification however - it means the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills in the UK and the Kaufmann Foundation in the US.
