New statutory rates

In case you missed the announcements, the standard rate of Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) and Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP) has now increased for payment weeks starting on or after 3 April 2011, from £124.88 to £128.73 per week.

As of 6 April, the National Insurance Lower Earnings Limit (LEL) also rose from £97 to £102 per week. Employees must earn at least the LEL in the eight weeks running up to the notification of the adoption match, or 15th week before the baby is due, in order to be eligible for SAP, SMP and SPP.

The rate of Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) increased from £79.15 to £81.60 per week as of 6 April.
