In the spring a young company's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love, as Tennyson could have written, but didn't, on account of being a poet and not a trade journalist.

And acquisitive comms outfit Daisy Group has been doing some serious wooing as the weather warms up.

Just last week it bought a great big wodge of Outsourcery for £12m, but this morning came the news that it had shown up on the doorstep of Niu Solutions with flowers and chocolates (actually £15m) to acquire managed services and Avaya - Mitel resellers Telinet and Ipitomi.

Daisy's stated ambition is to act as a consolidating force in a market sector it believes to be heavily fragmented and says it has a "proven buy-and-build strategy" (true as far as it goes).

It now services over 75,000 customers in the SME business market through its retail channel. Its wholesale channel has 850 resellers on its books, while its distribution channel - which operates at arms length from the rest of the firm, has 250 active dealers and 65,000 connections on its books.

But the questions remain. What's the plan? How does it all fit together with relation to the channel? What are the next steps? And ultimately, where does it end? Remember, the numbers still show a pre-tax loss.

Network Noise will be speaking with Daisy next week, and we're hoping to find out whether it's planning a summer of love, too...
