Channel roundup: Who's gone where?

Even with a bank holiday last week the appointments kept coming in the channel

Another week of personnel shuffling across the channel with moves in distribution and at reseller level. For those keen to track which executives are sitting in the board rooms of the industry it's been a week of updating organisation charts.

Tech Data
The distributor has announced that existing member of its Tech Data UK Board, Matt Child, has wills tep into Child's previous position and has been promoted to Managing Director, Endpoint Solutions, and joins the Tech Data UK Board. "We know that through his experience and abilities, Matt will make a superb contribution to the Advanced Solutions team as well as to our impact on the market. James has proved that he is equally well positioned and qualified to take on the role of Managing Director, Endpoint Solutions. We’re very excited about these appointments, knowing that they both bode very well for Matt and James’ future, as well as Tech Data’s," said David Watts, managing director, Tech Data UK and Ireland

Gary Bootland has been appointed the channel manager for Northern Europe and he will be rolling out a UK channel programme. He will be responsible for educating partners in the region and helping get the firm's Smartb Partner Programme bedding in with the channel. “It’s an increasingly threatening landscape organisations are operating in today. DDI is without a doubt essential to protecting networks, yet often goes overlooked. This is despite research showing network attacks have risen in cost by 57%. As customers undergo digital transformation to adapt, I see tremendous opportunity to grow the Northern European business through the channel," he said.

8x8 
The cloud player has appointed Michael Armer as vice president and chief information security officer. He was most recently VP and CISO at Barrick Gold Corporation and prior to that served as the head of information security for Lam Research Corporation. “It’s mission-critical for organizations to keep their communications systems secure. 8x8 is a leader in providing secure cloud-based communications services,” said Armer. “I’m excited to be part of a team with such a strong commitment to customer and partner data protection.”

Mphasis 
The cloud player has given Anurag Bhatia the chance to make a difference as senior vice president and head of Europe. He has been working over at the US business for the past five years but comes across to Europe with a brief for spearheading growth. "My paramount priority is to help our clients accelerate enterprise digital transformation. We are well positioned in the region, and I look forward to augmenting the great work and partnership the Mphasis Europe team has with clients," he said.

Iskratel 
The comms player has unveiled a fresh senior management team. Damir Opsenica has landed the role of director of business unit core. He spent 11 years at Ericsson. Matjaž Aljančič, will become director of business unit broadband. Serving as a Chief Operating Officer since last year, Sašo Šimec will take on the role of Director of Business Unit EMS. Finally, Tadej Dragaš has been appointed as Director of Business Unit Industry Verticals. He has been with the firm for 15 years.
