SolarWinds adds e92plus to the distributor roster
Vendor looks to security distributor to take its ITSM offering out to resellers across UK and Ireland
There have been plenty of efforts by security vendors to open their arms wider to embrace the managed services community – and the same is happening at a distribution level.
In the past year, numerous vendors and distributors have launched and enhanced MSSP programmes, the most recent examples including SonicWall and Exclusive Networks. But managed services are not just about different business models and also involve management tools and monitoring software that can be useful to those security players looking to extend their reach into IT operations.
That is the thinking behind the decision of SolarWinds to sign up e92plus and add the distributor to an existing roster that includes Tech Data, CMS Distribution, Sigma Software, Loop1 Systems and Prianto.
There has been significant growth in security becoming embedded in IT strategy and management, and SolarWinds has taken steps to ensure both aspects are covered in its offering.
The expectation is that e92plus will take SolarWinds’ suite of IT operations management software (ITSM) out to resellers across the UK and Ireland, giving them the chance to add their existing security expertise around the offering.
“SolarWinds is recognised as one of the leaders in IT operations management,” said Mukesh Gupta, chief executive and founder of e92plus. “Coupled with their growing security offering, we believe they are the perfect complement to our portfolio.
“We can see excellent opportunities in helping our partner community grow their business with SolarWinds, solving today’s IT challenges and improving the performance of their customers’ infrastructure across on-premise, cloud and hybrid IT environments.”
The distributor is also expected to provide training and support for partners, which was one of the reasons it was attractive to SolarWinds, and will promote the combination of ITSM and security to resellers.
“We are thrilled to welcome e92plus as our newest distributor for the UK and Ireland,” said Ludovic Neveu, group vice-president, sales, EMEA at SolarWinds. “We believe its security expertise will provide excellent service and value-added benefits to our customers. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”
Ensuring that an ITSM solution has robust security has become a differentiator for customers looking to make sure their choice of solution delivers on multiple fronts.
Speaking to MicroScope’s sister publication, SearchCIO, back in 2018, information governance expert Jeffrey Ritter commented on the need for security.
“Any ITSM innovation in today’s environment must incorporate strong design elements for security and data protection from the very beginning,” he said. “Doing so helps improve the services, of course, but solid design also helps better estimate the total costs to build and operate the innovation.
“Just imagine if an architect for a residential home had a wonderful design, but decided not to include locks on the windows or doors. The added costs could be substantial and reduce the overall return on investment.”
