Computacenter expands depth of European coverage

An acquisition of a Swiss reseller will provide the firm with a solid pipeline of business in the country

Computacenter has continued to expand its European operations with a move to acquire Swiss reseller PathWorks for an undisclosed sum.

The channel giant has established French and German operations and over the past 18 months has also moved into Ireland and picked up Misco's operations in the Netherlands.

The latest move will beef up its operations in Switzerland and bring on board a firm that employs ten staff, generates revenues of 14.4m Swiss Francs and operates out of a base in Lucerne. Computacenter will pay for the deal out of existing cash reserves.

PathWorks is a Platinum Partner of Lenovo, a Gold Partner of HP and Dell, and an Enterprise Business Partner of Samsung and has a track record in the public sector, education and SME segments.

“We are pleased with the opportunity to integrate PathWorks into Computacenter Switzerland. PathWorks brings a promising pipeline of customers in the public and private sector," said Massimiliano D'Auria, Country Unit Director Switerzland at Computacenter.

"Through this acquisition, Computacenter is filling a gap in its portfolio in Switzerland. We now have our own product business in PathWorks, which will make us considerably more independent and thus flexible in the procurement of hardware for our customers. This is a major competitive advantage for a general IT contractor like us,” he added.

Lieven Bergmans, Computacenter’s Managing Director European Development, added that the deal added more depth to its ability to provide customers with support with digital transformation projects.

“We will be able to source, transform and manage our customer’s technology infrastructure and help them in their journey of digital transformation. Moreover, by increasing our European footprint in technology sourcing we will further strengthen our capability for our vendors partners to be their preferred route to market," he said.
