CMS Distribution joins GTDC ranks

The storage specialist is among the latest wave of members that have joined the membership ranks of the Global Technology Distribution Council

CMS Distribution has become the latest UK channel player to join the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) as the industry organisation expands its member ranks.

Along with CMS other joining include US outfit TESSCO Technologies and German player Siewart & Kau have also signed up as the group looks to expand its global representation.

The latest recruits will join the ranks of other members, which combined are accountable for more than $150bn in annual revenues, with GTDC set to hold its summit next month in San Francisco.

“The role of distribution is as important as ever at the center of technology ecosystems,” said GTDC CEO Tim Curran.

“Our analysis of aggregate distributor sales reflects strong growth in the US and Europe this year. Vendor partners are engaging in dynamic new ways to advance their business in current and emerging markets. These new GTDC members attest to the trends in action, as they’re all highly successful and adept at introducing new services to the channel,” he added.

CMS Distribution is celebrating its 30th anniversary and employs 350 staff across Europe, APAC and the US and has a revenue of just under £500m.

Murray Wright, president and CEO of TESSCO, gave an insight into the benefits of gaining membership: “The GTDC provides tremendous access to distribution industry information, trends analysis and channel business connections".

Earlier this summer the GTDC held its EMEA summit and shared its views on the current market, noting that demand for the services that distributors could offer was increasing.

“We’re very encouraged by the trends we’re seeing this year,” commented Peter van den Berg, GTDC general manager of EMEA and APAC.

“The distribution industry grew in Europe across all major markets in the first quarter, and we see that upward track continuing into the current quarter. Vendor partners are also very enthused about their prospects through distribution – the broader reach, efficiencies and unique support distributors now deliver," he added.
