SCC expands managed print reach with Hobs On-Site buy

Four years after SCC acquired managed print player M2 the firm is adding to the services it can offer with an additional deal

SCC has acquired the business processing outsource division of the Hobs Group in a move to strengthen its managed print offering.

The Hobs On-Site operation will be renamed M2 Managed Document Services and sit alongside the M2 managed print business.

SCC has been growing its managed print offering since it purchased M2 four years ago and the latest move will give it the ability to respond to a growing customer demand for both print and document management.

Hobs On-Site, which was part of the Hobs Group, comes with a large enterprise and public sector customer base as well as a presence in key verticals, including legal, construction and finance.

Following the deal Hobs On-Site managing director Simon Kelly will transfer across with the business and continue to run the operation and be tasked with charting a course for strong growth.

John Taylor, CEO of M2, said that the Hobs On-Site operation would give it a much wider customer pitch.

"They provide a complementary set of services to both our production printing business within M2 and SCCs digital workplace offering. We clearly plan to replicate the growth and customer convergence of specialist services in print and document management, whilst continuing to add specialist services," he said.

In response, James Duckenfield, CEO of Hobs Group, said that it had worked with M2 for many years and recognised the chances of the business growing were better under fresh ownership.

"We are confident that the business is going to a fantastic new home, and one where we will maintain a strong relationship with our clients as well as with M2. We will continue to provide reprographics, legal support services and our range of 3D and virtual reality offerings through Hobs On-Site and to the wider marketplace," he said.
