Eaton hands channel UPS trade-in option
Vendor kicks off campaign to encourage customers to refresh uninterruptible power supplies via its channel partner base
Those looking to encourage user spending have a few tools at their disposal, including promotions and price cuts, to get the orders flooding in.
Power specialist Eaton has opted for the former approach, with a trade-in promotion that it is hoping channel partners can use to drive more uninterruptible power supply (UPS) sales.
The vendor has cut the ribbon on its Trade In 2024 campaign, which is going to be running across Europe throughout the spring. The channel will be able to promote the offer from now until the end of June, with the trade-in not only offering the chance to get a decent deal on a fresh UPS, but the ability to dispose of the old kit in a sustainable way.
The vendor has chosen to make the offer available through its IT channel partners, providing them with a chance to spur fresh spending and promote their sustainable credentials.
“This campaign is part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and providing value to our customers,” said Martin Green, Eaton’s UK and Ireland IT channel sales director. “By trading in their old UPS, customers can not only upgrade to the latest technology at a reduced cost, but also contribute to reducing electronic waste by ensuring their old devices are disposed of in an eco-friendly manner.”
The channel is being encouraged to put forward the improved efficiency, device and data protection, and continuity of operations benefits that come from the latest UPS products. The offer can also act as a nudge to encourage those on legacy kit to consider a refresh.
“Regularly updating UPS systems helps protect IT infrastructure, prevent data loss and safeguard valuable equipment,” said Green. “Together with our IT channel partners, we provide businesses with expert advice to ensure a smooth transition from their existing UPS towards a newer solution that’s tailored to their needs, ensuring a perfect fit every time.”
Trade-in approach
Trade-in is a useful way of incentivising customers, and TD Synnex has been encouraging partners to take advantage of its service, which covers a large range of technologies the distributor carries in its portfolio.
The disie recently spoke of the role a trade-in approach played with getting users to move to more powerful laptops, such as those using the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors.
James Reed, managing director of Endpoint Solutions for the UK and Ireland at TD Synnex, said that being able to offer customers a range of buying options helped generate business and ensure devices were given an opportunity to have a second life or be disposed of sustainably.
“Partners can use our services to quote for trade-in deals on any laptop or mobile device from any manufacturer,” he said. “As well as ensuring all products are fed back into the circular economy and do not end up in landfill, trade-ins mean the customer gets an even better deal, which in turn makes upgrading even more attractive.”
