Cohesity partners benefit from storage players strong FY19

The vendor has shared growth rates for its fiscal year and details of what that has meant for the majority of its partners

Storage player Cohesity has seen its the majority of its partners benefit over the course of its fiscal 2019, which wrapped up at the end of July, with a significant number doubling their business.

The vendor has shared details of its FY19 with the firm reporting software revenues growing by more than 100% and more than 50% of its revenues now coming on a recurring basis.

The business also saw its first $10m customer order and the number of deals it was striking that were valued in excess of $1m also climbed by 350%, compared to the previous fiscal year.

All that growth helped Cohesity's channel with 70% of partners growing their business by 100% and more than half enjoying 200% plus increases. Over the course of the year the firm added an additional 30 plus service providers to the fold.

The storage firm has been tweaking the services it can offer the channel, with an expansion to the partner programme rolled out this time last year,  providing more training and marketing support. The vendor has also struck relationships with some of the household names in the UK channel as it expands its reseller base.

“Demand for our disruptive data management solutions continues to skyrocket as more companies turn to Cohesity to simplify backup, defend against ransomware, make data easier to manage, and solve mass data fragmentation,” said Mohit Aron, CEO and founder of the firm.

Aron said that the firm had seen some success with its Marketplace, which contains its own apps as well as some third party offerings from Splunk, SentinelOne, Clam Anti-Virus and Imanis Data. Earlier this year it reached out to the ISV community to encourage them to get involved and made it easier for them to sign-up with a new software developer kit, APIs and tools for developers.

The apps that the vendor put into the MarketPlace from the start included the Insight data search tool, the Spotlight app that charts modifications to file data and EasyScript, which makes it easier to upload, execute and manage scripts.

"With the Cohesity MarketPlace, we are enabling customers to bring apps to the data, which opens a new world of possibilities in extracting value from data. Just as Google made it easy for consumers to manage and extract value from consumer data, we are doing the same with enterprise data across hybrid and multi-cloud environments," said Aron.

Cohesity has also been developing its ecosystem to try to get its technology sold via more partners and has seen those afforts also yield a decent return in FY19. In the fourth quarter the firm had more than 30% of its software sold on certified hardware from some of those hardware vendors that are working with the firm. That was up from single digits in the whole of the last financial year.

“In the last year, Cohesity has been the fastest growing Cisco portfolio company in our SolutionsPlus program, driven by the operational simplicity of our joint solutions on Cisco UCS and HyperFlex, and by the new world of possibilities customers see to unify, protect, and extract value from their data," said Cynthia Johnson, vice president, global data center sales at Cisco.
