Exertis plugs Hoover into electricals operation

Plans to grow its position in the small domestic appliance market have been given a boost with the signing of household name Hoover

Exertis has signed up one of the most well-known names in the electricals market just a few months after the distributor indicated that it was extending its coverage into the domestic appliance category.

The channel player hired former Argos staffer Harrier Croft to head up its activities in the electricals market and it has followed up on that move by signing up Hoover.

Croft spent ten years at Argos, most recently working as manager in the retailers small domestic appliance (SDA) division. The SDA category includes products like microwaves, coffee machines and toasters.

The distributor will now be stocking vacuum cleaners and microwaves alongside its traditional B2B, mobile and retail tech products.

Croft, general manager, core electricals at Exertis, said that it had made it clear from the start that it wanted to work with established names as well as emerging players.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Exertis to work with one of the most iconic brands in the domestic, electricals market as we broaden our portfolio to existing retailers and engage with new customers in this market," she said.

"Hoover needs no introduction and is widely acclaimed for its innovation and design. We are looking forward to servicing customers as we lead up to peak demand," she added.

The track record of Exertis in the tech distribution market was one of the reasons Hoover signed up what at this stage is a relatively unknown name in the electricals market.

“We are pleased to be one of the first brands to support the launch of Exertis into this market place. The company’s expertise in providing technology products to retail and its reputation with those customers were key reasons to engage, along with the opportunity to provide efficiencies in our supply chain," said Bobby Watkins, sales and marketing director for SDA, Hoover Candy.
